Putting your publisher website on Google News requires the meeting of a rigorous standard. Your site must produce 300-500 words of content daily, have multiple authors and have an archive of posts. As Google News becomes more popular, the competition becomes more competitive and the moderating editors can be more critical.
Across the net a single technical specification has left people scratching their heads: “Display a three-digit number. The URL for each article must contain a unique number consisting of at least three digits.” (Source) WordPress uses permanent links that indicate the month, day and year the article was published. What more do you want? Apparently, an article ID must be appended to the WordPress URL structure in order to comply to Google News’ feed standards.
To set this up in your WordPress website, you need to go to your Dashboard, Settings, Permalinks and use a custom permalink like this: /%postname%/%post_id%/
